An oil spill is one of the worst environmental disasters that we have to face. Oil spills damage our oceans and kill the wildlife within. In order to generate ideas, I made a list of things commonly associated with “oil”, a “spill” and “ocean life”. After making a few sketches I settled on the idea of showing an oil rig spewing a giant oil slick which also looks like a dead jellyfish to deliver the message that a lone tiny oil rig can cause enormous damage to the ocean which it is intended to mine.
Based on three different executions, I chose the ink-on-paper production for my poster because the texture of the ink represents the idea of the oil leak most appropriately.
